AT HOME DIY BABY PHOTOSHOOT WITH IPHONE!

Natalie Diaz

Hello mamas and dadas! Thanks for visiting my blog.

The purpose of this post is to give you guys some ideas, tips and tricks on how to DIY Baby Photoshoot at home using your iPhone.

As a professional photographer I have received many requests on this topic, therefore I decided it was time to share my best tips and tricks so that you can fill those family albums with amazing images even if you do not own a professional camera.

My first tip is to use natural light. If we use natural light it will diminish those red/yellowish tones and make for beautiful skin tones in the images. So open up a window and let that light come in! I am the type of photographer that started using professional lighting sets and ended only using natural light because it’s my favorite!

My second tip is to find some props that you might already have at home. For this particular photoshoot I used a grey fluffy blanket that I had purchased at TJ Max a long time ago, that I have in my living room. Then, I purchased a Baby Yoda customized beanie at Etsy that cost me about $15. Then I used some of my favorite baby outfits that I had not used for other shoots yet.

My third tip is to use a bed and lots of pillows to position the baby. I placed the fluffy blanket over the bed and used it as a small backdrop because I did not want photos clustered with other objects.

My fourth tip is to take the photos from a 45 degree angle looking down because it makes for the best angle and you can make sure that the backdrop covers all the corners of the image.

My fifth tip, especially if you have an active baby, is to get someone else to help distract the baby behind you with a toy, just while you take the pictures.

Things to remember:

Take several images so you can pick your favorite ones

Make sure you have good light so the images do not come out grainy & you get nice well lit images.

Try different angles and you can even pose the baby on tummy time on a boppy pillow!
