BABY ACTIVITIES THAT WILL KEEP YOUR BABY ENTERTAINED AT HOME (11 MONTH OLD)

Natalie Diaz

Hello friends!

I wanted to share some activities that my baby has been loving that we discovered together. Being a mom for me is more than a full time job. A full time job is only 40 hours a week, raising a child is 24/7.

My baby is currently eleven months old and he is acting like an explorer that goes to discover a new world. He is already crawling, standing up without support and taking small steps on his own. New milestones are developing and his skills are incrementing, etc. He is one curious little baby and is the most adorable thing I have ever seen. Chasing him around the house has been tough because he wants to reach every single object, etc (including power outlets, heavy objects, tiny objects, metal objects, etc. That's why I have tried to develop different activities to keep him occupied & safe without paying hundreds on Montessori toys. We have created our own unique activities that cost me $0 with things I already have at home. I am happy to share this activities with other mama's and dada's!

OLD KEYBOARD WITH BUSINESS CARDS GAME ACTIVITY

My baby crawled inside my husband's home office room & discovered a computer keyboard that was there and my husband wasn't using anymore. So I took the old computer keyboard and cleaned it well and made sure the keys weren't loose or falling. My baby loved exploring the keyboard by grabbing it and clicking on the keys. Then to make it more entertaining I took some old business cards that we don’t use anymore and stacked them in between the keys. My baby’s first reaction was to grab the business cards and try to throw them and pick them up again. This activity entertained him for about thirty minutes.

  1. DIAPER BAG EXPLORATION ACTIVITY

I’m sure you have noticed how intrigued your baby gets with your purse or the diaper bag. Basically what I did was I made sure there was nothing dangerous or small inside the bag and I just let him grab and explore inside the pockets etc. It kept him entertained for about thirty minutes as well. One idea is to change the objects inside the bag once in a while. He also loved pulling on the zippers and grabbing the objects from the bag to take them out and then putting them back in. I only had some diapers, a bag of wipes, some extra baby clothes, teething crackers (that he ate) and pacifiers. But I am sure you can think of other things to add in there that would be safe as well.

2. BABY IPAD DRUMS AND PIANO ACTIVITY

For some reason, my baby seems to love technology and music. He insists on grabbing my phone, my husband's computer, the tablet and the laptop. I let him touch the iPad only with my supervision but I recently downloaded a Drumming App that he really likes. He basically pretends he is drumming by hitting the drums. I also downloaded a Piano App that anytime he hits a key, a lullaby starts playing.

3. INSTRUMENTS ACTIVITY

My husband is a musician so at home we have a piano, guitar & a drum pad. My baby absolutely loves putting his hands on the instruments. We do have to supervise him carefully but I believe letting him touch the instruments and noticing how they sound is not only entertaining for him but he is developing his creative side.

3. BABY BOOKS PILE ON OTTOMAN OR LOW BED

For this activity, I piled up some of my baby’s books and he just goes crazy with them, but this time I placed them on a little ottoman that we own and he loved reaching for the books and taking them down and try to put them back up. He acted like a little body builder exercising his arm muscles.

4. CARDBOARD BOX ACTIVITY

We saved an old Amazon box and one day I just grabbed it and after making sure the box was clean I placed my baby in the box and let him play with the sides, added some toys inside, etc. He started to open and close the sides. He loved it.

5. BEACH BALL ACTIVITY

I started with this activity as soon as my baby started sitting down. We just took a beach ball and let him play with it. I also lay him down and let him hold the beach ball and he tries kicking it like that, he loves it.
