As moms, we want our babies to be able to play and discover new things but at the same time we want them to be safe with the toys they use, etc. I had seen this activity before on #pinterest and #youtube so I decided to try it out with my 10 month old baby to see if he would enjoy it. What I liked is that it was very fast and easy to do because it only took me about 5 minutes to prepare the “baby sand”. What I mean by “baby sand” is safe sand that is not toxic and is edible just in case the baby decides to eat it, and being a 10 month 99% chance that he will eat some... And sure thing, the first thing my 10 month old did was put it in his mouth. I only used regular cooking flour and mixed in some olive oil because I only had that at home, but I have seen some other moms use food colorant as well to give it a color. I placed a plastic tent on my living room, and placed all the baby sand inside a bucket. I also used some sand toys for my baby to dig in the sand. I left my baby in diapers and did this right before bath time. My baby thought the texture was weird but overall he did enjoy playing with the sand, digging his hands and toys in it, and grabbing the sand and throwing it. This activity is another way to “bring the beach to your home”. These are the products I used for this activity besides the flour and olive oil.. My baby did enjoy the activity and it distracted him for a while.
